Highway Safety – Can You Help?

Winsley Parish Council – Highway Safety

During the Parish Council’s June meeting, councillors discussed the need for a crossing point near the Hartley Farm/Dane Rise junction.

The recent Highway Safety survey and other anecdotal evidence suggests that residents often have difficulty in crossing the B3108, but there is no data on the number of people crossing. It was suggested that councillors and other volunteers could count pedestrians and vehicles crossing the B3108 close to the Hartley Farm/Dane Rise junction to provide a more evidence-based case.

It is proposed that a survey is carried out from Monday 15thJuly to Sunday 21stJuly and then for one day on 2ndAugust.

Volunteers willing to help are asked to email the Parish Clerk: winsleypc(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)gmail.com– please include “Counting” as the subject of your email.

We envisage volunteers taking one or more 2 hour slots between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm Monday to Saturday and 10.00 am and 4.00 pm on Sunday.

The deadline for offering to volunteer is 7thJuly. Once we know how many offers of help we have the Parish Council will decide whether the survey can proceed.
