Send a Cow

Send a Cow is a Bath based, national charity that helps African farmers out of poverty. Farmers are trained to grow enough food to feed their families, sell surplus produce and develop small businesses that last. Send a Cow also provides livestock, seeds and ongoing support to help families to make the most of their land and resources.

All families agree to pass on young livestock, seeds or training to other needy families. Send a Cow’s ‘Pass it On’ principle not only builds stronger communities, it allows more people to develop the skills, confidence and self respect they need for a better, more hopeful future. People become happier and healthier; they send their children to school; they improve their homes and communities come together and become more harmonious.

People in Winsley have generously supported Send a Cow from the moment it started over 20 years ago. Most recently, a concert was held in St Nicholas Church; a fundraising dinner was held at Dorothy House; and just before Christmas, the Seven Stars hosted community carol singing in aid of Send a Cow. St Laurence School, Bradford on Avon, chose Send a Cow as one of its charities last year.

Philip & Bridget Poulsom are local representatives for Send a Cow. They give talks to groups and would welcome new introductions and fundraising ideas. Their telephone number is 01225 723481
