Parish Councillor Vacancy – application deadline 24th Nov 2017

The deadline for applications for co-option onto the Parish Council is this Friday, 24th November at 5pm.  

The position is open to eligible candidates who wish to take an active part in the decision-making process of the Parish and to represent the interests of the whole community. Parish Council meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month (except August), starting at 8pm.

If you’re interested in becoming a parish councillor then please submit a short statement, outlining the experience, skills and knowledge that you can bring to the role and your reasons for wishing to become a parish councillor.

Statements must be submitted, by email or hard copy, to Selina Jobson, Parish Clerk at: clerk(Replace this parenthesis with the @ sign)winsley.org.uk; or 51 Tyning Road, Winsley, BA15 2JN.

The Parish Council will consider applications at its meeting on Tuesday 5th December 2017 (8pm, St Nicholas Church Hall).

Eligibility: Please note, applicants must be at least 18 years old and a British citizen, or an eligible Commonwealth or EU citizen. Applicants must also meet at least one of the following four qualifications:

  • be registered as a local government elector for the parish from the day of nomination onwards;
  • have occupied, as owner or tenant, land or other premises in the parish during the whole of the past 12 months;
  • their main or only place of work during the past 12 months has been in the parish; or
  • have lived in the parish or within three miles of it during the whole of the past 12 months.
