Village “CleanUp”

It is 10 years since Winsley last won the Best Kept Village Competition. (We have won it on two previous occasions)
So it seems a good idea to enter again this year.

The closing date for entry is April 20th and judging starts mid-May. We are not told when the judges are coming or who they are, but we do get feedback after the results are published. This is a very useful tool for us as it helps to identify areas which visitors notice and need some more attention.

A small volunteer force and members of the Parish Council will be meeting at the Convenience Store in Tyning Road at 10.00 am on Saturday May 12th to continue the programme of improvement and tidying.  All help will be welcome! The anticipated finish time is around mid-day.

Please come and join us – bring good gloves – long trousers socks and shoes essential (Tick Awareness), a pair of secateurs will be useful.

In general it would help enormously if residents could also concentrate on the area in front their property and give it a general tidy-up. Also cut back shrubs and creepers over hanging the pavement.

We may not win this year but we are making a start.

It’s the taking part that counts!!!
