Neighbourhood Watch in Winsley

It’s currently National Neighbourhood Watch Week, until the 24 June 2018.  The following article is from Roy Ludlow, who coordinates the Neighbourhood Watch scheme in Winsley:

In  a village like Winsley, especially at a time of cuts to public services, we cannot expect a regular Police presence. Therefore, it is all the more important that we be vigilant, both for ourselves and for our neighbours, and that we ensure that our houses, garages, garden sheds and cars are secure at all times. Fortunately, Winsley is largely crime-free and yet a recent spate of burglaries, however unusual, emphasizes the need always to be alert.

Through Neighbourhood Watch (NW) I am able to keep residents informed of any criminal activity in our area and to pass on useful advice on security from the Police. Some areas of the village have a NW co-ordinator, but we could improve our local NW network if some more volunteers were able to take on this role. This role involves receiving messages from me and passing them on, either by email or ’round robin’, to houses in your immediate vicinity. You can choose how many houses you wish to cover. I send messages about once a month.

So – if you live in a part of the village which never receives my messages – how about having a go?! It really is not onerous. Do please contact me. Details are given below.
