Winsley Primary School is a Church of England school which is part of the Palladian Academy trust.

We encourage children to take part in a wide range of activities and experiences contributing fully to the life of their school and community. We feel that in so doing they learn to recognise their own worth, work well with others and become more confident in their own learning.

We are a village school with five classes and excellent facilities. Currently we have 138 children on roll. The school has a reputation for a caring, family atmosphere. We are rated as Outstanding by Ofsted.

We are always happy to show parents around our school; please phone to make an appointment.

Winsley Acorns Pre School

We have been caring for children aged 2 to 4 for more than 20 years, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment.

Our children engage in a wide range of experiences that are designed to support learning through play. We have a wonderful outdoor space in which the children can express themselves and explore the natural world.

We recognise that all children are individuals, working closely with each child to meet their needs and to provide specific support.

We are well established within the community and conveniently situated next to Winsley Primary School. Our close links with the school enable us to work with them when preparing children for the transition from early years to Foundation education. We also work with the other local schools that some of Acorns’ children will move on to.

Fern Forest School

Hello! I live in Old Winsley and I have been running my own forest school since 2012. I am Ofsted registered, fully trained and insured. I take children on amazing adventures into our beautiful local country-side, around Winsley, Turleigh and Murhill…older ones can walk to Conkwell too.

We go on adventure walks, discovering many things along the way…snacking along the way and sometimes making things along the way too! We usually build a temporary camp “when we get there”, where we then base our activities for the session: rope swinging, mini abseiling, camp fire, outside cooking, green woodworking, shelter building, mini-beast hunt, animal tracking, mud slides, trails, scavenger hunts and lots of games.

The children are so engrossed they don’t realise how much they are learning, but at the end of it all they know they have had a great time and their love of outdoors and nature has deepened. The aim is to help children grow in self confidence as they hear positive language and are enabled to keep themselves safe, work with others, understand boundaries, successfully master a skill and complete a task.

I run after school clubs…at Winsley School on Mondays, from Fern’s base on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I run a school session in Bath on Wednesday afternoons. I also run 3 hour Saturday clubs and 5 hour holiday clubs, starting at 10am from Fern’s base (see my specific info for dates for these…this websire, local posters, school newsletters and facebook and instagram).

I can run bespoke nature walks for any age, children’s birthday parties, home ed groups, pre-school sessions, end of year celebrations, team-building exercises for all ages! Please ask me what I can do for you! I can travel to you and your local countryside or you can come to me.
